Desireless Behavior

1. A foolish person has a limited perspective, but the wise one sees everything with a wide perspective, and enjoys many pleasures in many ways.
2. The Inner-Self and the spiritual leader (Mahanta) are the same. He will never become petty or limited. He is unconfined and vast like space, and all-knowing. He is a renowned yogi. (One who abides without distinction as Oneness.)
3. He is the principle doer and enjoyer who is the power that works everywhere on the earth. Only the knowledgeable are able to recognize him.
4. The spiritual leader is like this. He has searched through everything and held to the Essence. If we try to see him, he is not easily located.
5. He is well known in the form of fame. Large and small alike know him. If we look at his outer garments, not even one of them is permanent.
6. His fame can never become diminished. Many people do not understand him when they see him, or why he behaves as he does.
7. He takes no pleasure in adorning himself with expensive clothing. He is adorned with the adornment of fame and having a good name. He does not waste even a single moment without being engaged in some productive activity.
8. He is constantly leaving the company of acquaintances and moving on to make new acquaintances. People look to see into his mind, but no desire is seen in him.
9. He does not look at anybody with interest for a long time, and he does not talk with anyone for a long time. He does not stay in any one place for long, and he is constantly getting up and going away.
10. He does not tell where he is going, and the places he does mention, he does not go to. He does not allow any conjecture or imagination as to his own inner state.
11. Whatever opinions that people form about him, he proves them wrong, whatever people imagine about him gets turned upside down, and he easily disproves faulty logic that people present to him.
12. He has no respect for those things that people look to with great respect, and he is disinterested in the things that people are always eager and hungry to obtain.
13. Thus, he can’t be imagined with imagination, nor can he be conceived of with logical ideas. Any ideas or feelings that people have as to how he is are incorrect. He is the "Master of Yoga" (Yogeshwar).
14. Like this, his mind cannot be located. He cannot be found in one physical location, but when it comes to spiritual discourse and praising God, he does not stop, even for a moment.
15. Whatever people imagine and conceive about him is proven incorrect, and in this way he exposes the errors in the concepts and states of minds of the listeners. Such is the Master of Yoga.
16. Many people seek him out and he is appreciated by many who understand the great work that he has accomplished.
17. He constantly seeks solitude going off on his own to study, and he makes worthwhile use of his time in service of other people.
18. He develops the best qualities and teaches them to others. He gathers groups of people together, but does so discretely.
19. He is continuously occupied with the work of inspiring people to worship God. When people come to understand his worth, they have a desire to follow him.
20. First, the hard work must be completed, and only then are the returns forthcoming. Without putting in any effort, there is no fruit. One who does not put in any spiritual effort lives life to just feed the body.
21. Seek out many people and understand their capacity. After understanding, then one can consciously keep them near or leave them.
22. Work gets done according to one's capacity. If one does not have the proper capability, then the work that gets done goes to waste. Knowingly look into the minds of the people and understand their capabilities in various ways.
23. Entrust the person with work according to their capacity. Only when seeing someone's hard work and capabilities can one have confidence in them, but one should always make sure to maintain one’s own position of respect and prominence.
24. This is told from actual experience. I have done first and then talked about it. Anyone who agrees with this will accept it.
25. A capable spiritual leader will develop others to be like him. By training others with proper thinking and intellect, he makes them Knowledgeable (Jnanis) and then sends them out to many places.
