Explanation About Microscopic Creatures

1. There are many microorganisms and tiny creatures that are very small, and their life is very short. Accordingly, their intellect and capacity in life is also very small.
2. There are many such miniscule creatures that cannot be seen by the naked eye. The five facets of the inner-mind (thoughts, mind, intellect, sense of "I am," and consciousness) are also present in these organisms.
3. Their knowledge is very limited, as are the objects of their sense organs. Who bothers to analyze the details of their experience?
4. For them, an ant is very huge, in the same way an elephant is for humans. It is said that a stream of urine is like a great flood for an ant.
5. There are many bodies in this universe both large and small, and the Self that is the Life-Energy resides in all of them.
6. There are a great many such microorganisms that occupy the vast expanse of the universe. One who investigates can easily observe this.
7. There are as many types of microorganisms as there are stars in the sky. To them human beings appear huge like mountains, and for them, their lives seem to have a long duration.
8. Just as there are small and large birds, there are also small and large snakes and fish as well.
9. There are creatures from the size of an ant to larger creatures, and there are even much more vastly larger creatures. With observation, the nature of the minds of these creatures can come to be known.
10. In the great variety of creatures, there are many colors and varieties of life. Some are beautifully colorful and some are without any color at all. How many of them can be described?
11. God has created many creatures. Some have soft and delicate bodies, some have very hard bodies, and some have bodies that shine like gold.
12. There are many differences in their bodies, types of food, communication, and other qualities, but they all have the same undifferentiated Life within.
13. There are some creatures that are troublesome, and some are even deadly. When observing, it can be seen that there are innumerable species of creatures, some being very rare.
14. Who has investigated and categorized all of the varieties of living creatures? Humans see very few of these creatures as we are limited to the scope of our own perception of the universe.
15. There are nine continents and seven seas on this earth. Who among men sees the cosmic water beyond the universe?
16. There are many huge beings which exist in that water. Who can know the states of such beings?
17. Where there is water, there is life. This is the nature of creation. If one looks into this, it can be seen that the expanse of creation is very vast.
18. Inside the crust of the earth there can be found various forms of water, and in these waters there are many varieties of bodies small and large. Who knows all of them?
19. Some beings that live high in the sky have not been seen on the earth. After getting their wings, they fly high above the earth.
20. There are many living beings in the air and on the land, and many that live in the forest and in the sea. Of the 8.4 million varieties of species, who can know them all?
21. With the exception of in the scorching fire, there are living species that can be found everywhere. There are even beings that are formed out of imagination. Who can know them all?
22. Some beings are formed using different powers, and some are formed from spells and have bodies that are cursed.
23. There are some bodies formed by magic, some by demonic powers, and some that are formed by the gods in various ways.
24. Some bodies are formed out of anger, some out of penance, and some that are formed by the removal of a curse.
25. Such is the myriad variety of creatures created by God. How much of all this can be explained? A great many strange things happen because of Illusion.
26. Many strange and incomprehensible beings have been created which are neither seen nor heard by anyone. Such a strange play of creation should be understood to happen in Illusion.
27. Very little is known about such things by people who only learn enough knowledge as is needed to make a living, and who unnecessarily take pride in calling themselves knowledgeable.
28. It is the Inner-Self alone that is knowledgeable. The Self permeates everything. Who has the intellect to know its greatness?
29. The seven sheaths of the universe are the same as the seven sheaths associated with the body (the five elements, the ego or ignorance, and Chaitanya or the Self). Within the body there exist many living beings as well.
30. When a person does not even understand one’s own body, how can he understand everything else? People become puffed up with pride having gained only a little knowledge.
31. For beings that are as small as atoms and molecules, humans are huge beings. Our lives are gigantic compared to their lives.
32. Their behavior and the laws governing their lives are many and various according to the species. Who understands all of these things?
33. So wondrous is the creation of God that one cannot imagine it with the mind. It is the vain imagining of the ego that makes the mistake of thinking it knows everything.
34. Giving up the ego, reflect upon the many creations of God. See that in the vast expanse of creation the life of a human being is short and insignificant.
35. The human life is very short and the body is mortal. Yet, because of pride people cry for the body in vain not knowing that it will surely die in a short time.
36. The body is conceived in a dirty place and begins to grow in dirty fluids. By whose account can it be said to be great?
37. This body is a dirty thing and is prone to destruction in a moment’s time, yet people are continuously engaged in worrying about it and its ailments. Without thinking, people foolishly call it a great thing.
38. The body is an illusion that lasts only for a short time. From beginning to end it is a cause of pain and suffering, yet people clothe it and decorate it, trying to show off its greatness in vain.
39. Even though the body is clothed, it still becomes exposed at the time of death and creates a terrible stench. One who has gained understanding through the power of discrimination is truly one who is blessed.
40. What value is there in going around arguing uselessly? It is better to break the egotistical pride associated with the body. The best use of life is to know God using the power of discrimination.
